Opening Dutch Holocaust Memorial of Names in Amsterdam

On 19 September 2021, the new Holocaust Memorial in Amsterdam was ceremonially unveiled by King Willem-Alexander together with Jacques Grishaver, Chairman of the Dutch Auschwitz Committee.

With the Holocaust Name Monument, more than 75 years after the Second World War, the Netherlands will finally have a memorial with the names of the 102,000 Dutch Holocaust victims who have no grave. More than 1000 unmarked stones also commemorate the Unknown Victims.  The reflective volumes form the Hebrew words לזכר (Engl.: in memory of).

In collaboration with the architectural firm Studio Libeskind, we planned the Dutch Holocaust Memorial of Names in Amsterdam. The lighting creates a calm atmosphere as well as a liveliness and highlights the names of the Holocaust victims once again.
